Ana Peleteiro

European champion in indoor triple jump and HRH Letizia, Princess of Asturias Award HRH Queen Letizia

She’s one of the greatest trump cards in Spanish athletics. Born in Ribeira (A Coruña) in 1995, Ana Peleteiro excelled from an early age at the triple jump discipline.

In 2012, when she was 16, she became the World Junior Champion in this speciality, along with beating the best European record of all time in the youth category. Her feat was recognised by being honoured with the Princess of Asturias Award, HRH Queen Letizia (now the Princess Leonor Award), bestowed by the Spanish Higher Sports Council.

At present, Peleteiro is the European champion for indoor triple jump, thanks to a jump that beat the absolute Spanish record and which led to her selection in 2019 as the Best Spanish Athlete by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. She is also preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will be held in 2021.
