He is the most international Spanish actor. Born in Malaga in 1960, Antonio Banderas’ start in the world of cinema was with Pedro Almodóvar. They included Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, which became an international smash hit and was nominated for an Oscar.
At the beginning of the 90s, Banderas took the leap to Hollywood with the film The Mambo Kings. In the mecca for cinema, he has acted in mythical films like Philadelphia, Interview with the Vampire, The House of the Spirits and Evita, to name just a few. He has also appeared on Broadway stages: in 2003 he was nominated for a Tony, the most prestigious American theatre award, for his performance in the musical Nine.
